Suvanshkriti is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Philosophy at Europa Universität Flensburg. Her research is centred on decolonial philosophy, and addresses the question of belonging from the perspective of the racialised migrant. She holds an interdisciplinary master's in European Studies, and has previously worked as a journalist, educator, and researcher.

Most of us have an opinion on current global political events, but we rarely ask ourselves where the patterns and histories that shape these opinions come from. Why are some parts of the world perceived as inherently chaotic? How universal are universal human rights, really? Whose lives do we care about, whose deaths matter? What is the background framework that shapes our idea of the world, both what it is and what it could be? In this course, we will examine precisely these philosophical underpinnings that inform our ways of being in, and thinking about, the world. Specifically, we will learn to recognise the continuation of colonial ideology in the very foundation of modern geopolitics. By introducing students to key concepts from decolonial philosophy, this course offers them a more critical understanding of the world, and enables them to question the global political events, from the migration crisis to the climate catastrophe.
